Guide to Clinical Preventive Services

DESCRIPTION

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) has adopted the Guide to Clinical Preventive Services as our recommended best practice reference to clinical preventive services.  This publication was developed by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) as part of an initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and is endorsed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Public Health Service, and the Office of Public Health and Science, and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.  The guide addresses the frequency and schedule of preventive health services when appropriate.  BCBST also recommends the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices Statement and Bright Futures a source for preventive health promotions recommendations for infants, children and adolescents.  Among the preventive health care practice recommendations advocated by BCBST are the following:
