School Advocates for Vision and Education (S.A.V.E.) was founded in fall of 2007 to provide vision screenings, comprehensive eye examinations, eye glasses, and further medical treatment for school children in Memphis and Shelby County who do not have access to such healthcare.
Partnering with the Southern College of Optometry, S.A.V.E has served hundreds of school children with free eye exams and glasses. With the support of multiple grants from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation, S.A.V.E was able to reach its goal of launching a mobile vision unit for schools and continues to help bring eye care to kids in need
