Chattanooga, Tenn. – BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced today that The Staubach Company, a national real estate consulting firm, has been hired as the project manager for the $226-million Cameron Hill project.

As project manager, The Staubach Company will work with BlueCross personnel in overseeing all aspects of the project, which will include several buildings encompassing about 800,000 square feet of office space. The facility will house BlueCross’ 3,800 Chattanooga employees.

“We are pleased to have Staubach as our partner in this project,” said Vicky Gregg, president and CEO of BlueCross. “They have a proven record of being an advocate for their clients and of bringing projects of this scope to completion on time and on budget.”

In December 2004, BlueCross asked 15 companies that specialize in overseeing large construction projects to submit proposals for the Cameron Hill project. Eight companies submitted proposals, and six of those firms were invited to make personal presentations. Based on those proposals and presentations, The Staubach Company was selected.

Bob Worthington, Senior Vice President for Administration, said, “We have been very deliberative in this selection process and I am confident it is an indication that the Cameron Hill project will reflect the quality and efficiency of BlueCross as well as the vision of the Chattanooga community.”

“It is exciting to be part of the BlueCross team and to be involved in such a great project for Chattanooga,” said John Fetz, president of The Staubach Company – Southeast. “The value BlueCross places on its people and their community is evident. We are honored by their selection of our company as project manager.”

In the coming months, Staubach will assist BlueCross in finalizing the timeline and budget for the project and in selecting the lead architect and the design team. Later, Staubach will assist in selection of a general contractor, and throughout the process will help BlueCross oversee all aspects of the project, including community input. Staubach also will help BlueCross accomplish its goal of having at least half of the project work involve local firms and at least 25 percent involve minority firms.

Staubach has worked as project manager of corporate campus projects similar to the BlueCross project, including Scientific-Atlanta, RadioShack, and BellSouth.
