Artech, Tune Join Design Team for BlueCross Headquarters
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has hired two Chattanooga-based architectural firms to help design the company’s new corporate headquarters. Artech Design Group, Inc. and Tune Design Architecture & Interiors, PC will join the project design team led by HKS Architects and Duda/Paine Architects.
Artech Design Group will assist in the design development and document procurement for the parking decks, as well as provide contract administration for the decks and buildings. The responsibilities for the local interior architect Tune Design will be to provide detailed space programming, develop furniture specifications, assist in furniture procurement and provide contract administration for the interiors and buildings.
According to principals at HKS, Duda/Paine and TVS Interiors, both local firms bring a tradition of quality service and a solid understanding of the community’s culture to the BlueCross corporate design project.
"We are pleased to partner with this renowned design team and look forward to applying our own talent and local market knowledge to creating a new home for BlueCross," said Tim Burney, principal of Artech Group.
“We are very excited to assist in designing the interior architecture for the BlueCross Cameron Hill project,” said Brian Tune, president of Tune Design. “Since we have been providing interior design services at BlueCross for some years, we’re already familiar with the needs of this dynamic company and look forward to continuing that relationship.”
Local Artech Group projects include the Market Center, River Pier Landing and the Bijou Theatre. Projects by Tune Design include HealthPark East, Electric Power Board interior design and furniture procurement, and Pointe Corporate Center.
Artech and Tune were chosen from among four local finalists for a portion of the architectural design work. The selection process occurred over a two-month period.
“Both of these Chattanooga-based firms help complete the perfect design team that will deliver an innovative workplace, which benefits our BlueCross employees and members as well as the City of Chattanooga,” said Bob Worthington, senior vice president at BlueCross.
Initial design plans for the new BlueCross campus should be completed by late spring 2006.
