Health Ethics Trust Honors BlueCross
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. —The Health Ethics Trust® has named BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and its subsidiary Riverbend Government Benefits Administrator (RGBA) winners of its Best Compliance Practice Awards for 2006. The Health Ethics Trust is an organization designed to assist health care organizations in coping with compliance requirements.
The Trust honored BlueCross in the category of regulatory reports tracking and bestowed recognition to RGBA in the categories of change management success, and integrating audit with ethics and compliance.
“Customers should be able to trust companies with whom they do business,” said Bill Young, senior vice president and chief compliance officer for BlueCross. “We pride ourselves on our companies’ commitment to integrity, honesty, ethics, and to the peace of mind those traits bring to our customers.”
A voluntary panel consisting of compliance professionals from health care and non-health related industries lead the peer review process. Award criteria included: integrating audit and internal controls with ethics and compliance; response to internal investigations of improper conduct and corrective action procedures; compliance program assessment; vendor relationships; and compliance involvement in medical error reduction and patient safety.
The Best Compliance Practice Awards are the only such honors for compliance and integrity practices in the nation’s health care industry. Awards will be presented on Nov. 13-14 during the annual Health Care Best Compliance Practices Forum in Alexandria, Va.
