Chattanooga, TN. -- BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) announced today it has received the Case Management (CM) re-accreditation for its Quality Management program. This re-accreditation comes from URAC, a Washington, DC- based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.

In addition to core standards of staff and information management, quality improvement, and organizational ethics, BCBST’s Quality Management program met several URAC standards specific to case management, which include: identifying individuals for case management, managing and conducting case management activities in an efficient and professional manner, and maintenance of confidentiality.

"URAC Accreditation is an essential part of our corporate Quality Management program,” says Irv Koehler, senior manager for Quality Management at BCBST. “URAC provides an objective review of our processes and outcomes to assist BCBST to provide the highest level of services to our members. The Case Management Accreditation program focuses on our benefit and service coordination efforts for our members with unique health care needs."

BCBST was initially awarded the CM accreditation in 2002.
