CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — In an effort to manage costs and conserve paper, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is encouraging its members to make the switch from paper Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements to online EOBs. Those who make the switch will be eligible to win a 2008 Nissan Altima hybrid and other great prizes.

"The Advance EOB Notice automated service allows our members to receive their EOBs much more quickly as they are posted in our secure BlueAccess Web site at,” said Jean Harris, vice president of member benefits administration.

“Online EOBs reduce paper, ultimately having a positive impact on the planet and manage the administrative costs of postage and printing, as well. By choosing to stop paper EOBs, you can help reduce paper waste and make our planet a cleaner, greener place to live. Best of all, you just might get a prize for it.” Harris said.

When a member subscribes to the Advance EOB service, they receive an email when a new EOB is posted in their secure BlueAccess account on The member then simply clicks on the link in the email, signs in to BlueAccess, and views the new EOB immediately.
