CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced today that it has received approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to resume marketing its 2007 non-group Medicare Advantage private-fee-for service (PFFS) plans. This announcement follows the statement by CMS that the agency has completed its review and determined that BlueCross has demonstrated accelerated compliance with 2008 CMS marketing requirements.

Marketing for the 2007 non-group Medicare Advantage PFFS products can resume immediately for beneficiaries eligible to enroll, and BlueCross will also be prepared to begin 2008 marketing on schedule.

“BlueCross embraces CMS’ objective to employ enhanced oversight and controls to protect those individuals eligible for the PFFS product. We are pleased to get approval from CMS to again market our PFFS product and furnish individuals another option in CMS’ programs,” said Stephen Walker, senior vice president of federal programs. “We remain committed to supporting the enhanced marketing standards for Medicare Advantage as well as the success of the overall Medicare program.”
