CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s Sandy Bunting has been named to the American Association of Managed Care Nurses (AAMCN) board of directors.

As an AAMCN Board member, Bunting will assist in directing the association’s membership of more than 2,000 registered nurses, nurse practitioners and licensed practical nurses serving in a variety of managed healthcare organizations nationwide.

“I will do my best to represent the health plan prospective to the American Association of Managed Care Nurses,” Bunting said of her appointment. “We have much work to do to improve the efficiency of health care administration in this country.”

Bunting, a registered nurse with a master’s in business administration, has filled multiple roles within BlueCross in both commercial and government business. She currently oversees and manages utilization review, case management, behavioral health management and practitioner education as the director of total health care management.

The AAMCN is a non-profit membership association established in 1994. Its mission is to establish standards for managed care nursing practice, to positively impact public policy regarding managed health care delivery and to assist in educating the public on managed care.
