CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Janet McConnell has been promoted to director of marketing communications and brand strategy for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

In her new position, McConnell will oversee the development and implementation of BlueCross’ associated advertising and brand strategy. This includes the creation and execution of marketing tactics in all forms of media.

“Janet brings outstanding talent, energy and leadership skills to her new role,” said Linda Andreae, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of BlueCross. “With her extraordinary creativity, I believe she will be able to effectively communicate to our members the many affordable health care options we provide for them.”

A graduate from the University of Tennessee, McConnell started at BlueCross in 1998 in various communications capacities. Before coming to BlueCross, McConnell worked for a public relations firm in Knoxville. There, she managed clients including BlueCross, McDonald’s, Nationwide Insurance, University of Tennessee athletics and several minor league sports teams.

She has received the Best of Blue Award three times by the BlueCross BlueShield Association as well as the Spirit of Leadership Award from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. McConnell has been a recipient of the ADDY awards for various advertising campaigns.
