NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Dakasha Winton recently joined BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee as counsel for the state government relations and public affairs team. In this role, Winton will provide legal support in all legal and regulatory matters that pertain to BlueCross interactions with the state of Tennessee.

Winton came to BlueCross from the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI), where she served as the chief counsel for insurance, securities and TennCare oversight. While there, Winton also provided valuable review and analysis of regulatory and legislative compliance issues. Prior to that, Winton was a staff attorney with the TDCI, giving her a total of four years experience in the field.

Winton graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University before receiving her juris doctorate from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Additionally, she is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Lobbyist Association.
