CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — RiverTrust Solutions, Inc. recently appointed Edwin Sanchez president and chief executive officer. Sanchez replaces retiring RiverTrust President Charles Hagen, who oversaw the company’s review process for second-level appeals for Medicare claims issued by the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors.

Sanchez will assume the daily oversight of the company’s operations including working with the RiverTrust board and other executives to establish long-range goals, business development strategies and plans, as well as profit and loss accountability for the company.

“Ed has proven to be a valuable asset to the company by instituting process improvement initiatives and enhanced services for our customers,” said Stephen Walker, senior vice president of federal programs for BlueCross. “We are confident that Ed has the insight, experience and leadership skills necessary to continue our success in being a trusted and valued partner to our customers.”

Sanchez joined RiverTrust as the company’s chief operating officer in 2008. He was responsible for establishing a dynamic system of operational, management and quality controls as well as providing executive oversight for all internal operational systems and business processes.

Prior to joining RiverTrust, Sanchez was the director of provider informatics, outreach and education in the Medicare operation at Highmark, Inc. Other positions previously held by Sanchez include roles in management, legal, information technology, audit and accounting in the highly-regulated energy and insurance business environments.

Sanchez received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Haverford College and his law degree from the Temple University School of Law. Additionally, he earned his executive masters of business administration from Drexel University.

Ed holds a Master’s certification in Government Contracting from George Washington University and has completed certification programs in Negotiation and Strategic Planning and Implementation at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He also holds certifications in project management and ISO 9001:2000 quality management.

Sanchez has recently been accepted to participate in the Leadership Chattanooga class of 2010.
