CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee commercial PPO product line has received “Excellent” accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for the second consecutive year.

This rating combines scores that assess standards and performance measurements such as member satisfaction and quality of care, and is part of NCQA’s Health Plan Accreditation.

“BlueCross is committed to providing the best value and highest quality health care to our members,” said Robert Mandel, MD, senior vice president of health care services for BlueCross. “We work hard to make sure our PPO product line maintains the highest level of standards held by NCQA, and earning an ‘Excellent’ rating for the second year reflects our commitment to those goals.”

Organizations that earn “Excellent” status, NCQA’s highest accreditation, meet or exceed rigorous requirements for consumer projection and quality improvement for customer service and clinical quality.

Accredited health plans face a rigorous set of more than 60 standards and must report on their performance in more than 40 areas in order to earn NCQA’s seal of approval.
