CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The BlueCross Bowl starts Dec. 2 for the final showdown in the high school Division I and II Football Championship Game, but fans of the schools can play in a contest of their own to determine which school has the most school spirit. Whichever school has fans with the fastest “texting” fingers will likely win the new BlueCross Bowl Fan Face-Off Contest, which pits on-field championship game opponents in a mobile device battle. The school that has the most text “votes” at the end of its respective game receives a $1,000 donation from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. “The Fan Face-Off is one way for faculty, students, parents and an entire community to show support for their championship team, and most importantly, the contest provides an opportunity for BlueCross to give back to the communities that are so important to our success and the success of the BlueCross Bowl,” said Janet McConnell, director of brand strategy and new media for BlueCross. The “texting” contest between will begin at noon (CST) on Tuesday, Nov. 30, and will continue until the final game whistle blows at the end of the championship game. To participate, text the team’s key word to 37048. Fans can get all the game times, key words, deadlines and real-time updates during the game by visiting www.facebook.com/BlueCrossBowlTN. A full list of games and key words are listed below. Contest winners will also be announced at the conclusion of each of the Division I and II championship games, being held at Tucker Stadium on the campus of Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tenn. The winning school may use the prize money for any projects or needs that benefit the school or school-sponsored programs or activities. Only one vote/text will be counted per mobile number, and normal messaging and data charges may apply. “Text messaging is the No. 1 method of communicating for teenagers, so this contest is perfect for Tennessee high school students to show their support for their championship teams,” said McConnell.
