Clinic Bowl Scores BlueCross As Sponsor
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Two Tennessee traditions have teamed up in the name of healthy competition with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee becoming presenting sponsor of the Clinic Bowl.
On Nov. 7, private school teams across the state will begin their quarterfinal and semifinal games in route to a spot in the 2003 Clinic Bowl, the Tennessee High School Football Division II Championships, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
The Clinic Bowl sponsorship complements BlueCross’ current title sponsorship of the Division I Football Championships – the BlueCross Bowl – set for Dec. 5-6 at Middle Tennessee State University. Playoffs for the BlueCross Bowl also begin Nov. 7.
The Clinic Bowl will be played at Vanderbilt’s Dudley Field in Nashville, Tenn., on Nov. 22 with the six top teams facing off for the distinction of being number one in the state. The event is produced by the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce (NAJCC) and the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA). Proceeds from the games benefit the Vanderbilt-Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital.
“After 53 years, the Clinic Bowl continues to highlight excellence in high school athletics,” said Emilie Shetler, a Clinic Bowl chairperson. “The games also continue to champion the junior chamber’s efforts to raise needed funds for those children and adults making their way back onto the playing field of life.”
“High school football is an integral part of communities across the state,” said Joan Harp, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for BlueCross. “We believe sponsoring the Clinic Bowl provides an important and popular avenue for us to help promote physical fitness and healthy competition among young people.”
Clinic Bowl games begin Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. (CST) (Class A), 2:30 p.m. (CST) (Class AA), and 6 p.m. (CST) (Class AAA) at Vanderbilt University.
