CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross® BlueShield® of Tennessee’s Medicaid subsidiary is updating its brand with a new name, enhanced website and a presence in social media.

The newly-named BlueCare Tennessee aligns with its best known Medicaid products, the BlueCare plans that cover TennCare members.

“TennCare members have always known us as BlueCare, so we’re just refreshing something our members and the public are familiar with,” said Scott Pierce, BlueCare Tennessee president and CEO. “Our new website is well organized and easy to use in getting helpful information. We are the first Medicaid plan in Tennessee to offer members an opportunity to communicate with their insurer via Facebook®.”

BlueCare Tennessee serves more than 450,000 TennCare members under the product names BlueCare East, BlueCare West, TennCareSelect and CHOICES. The legal name of the company remains Volunteer State Health Plan, Inc., but in public communications it will be known as BlueCare Tennessee.
