Children’s Advocacy Center Honors BlueCross
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Children’s Advocacy Center of Hamilton County has awarded BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee with their 2004 Corporate Volunteer of the Year Award.
BlueCross was recognized for its information technology support at the center, including computer software updates, virus protection installation, monitoring of the center’s server for efficiency, and design and maintenance of the center’s Web site.
“The BlueCross team volunteered countless hours providing us with endless IT support,” said Jim McCarter, president of the board for the Children’s Advocacy Center. “Their dedication enables the center’s staff to more efficiently store, process and retrieve critical data regarding the children we serve.”
In addition to the corporate award, the center recognized several individual BlueCross employees who spearheaded the company’s volunteer effort.
Shelly Garner, BlueCross Web site administrator, and Andy Jacobs, systems analyst, were honored for going the “extra mile.”
Garner was credited with her quick response to requested changes on the center’s Web site and for agreeing to serve on the center’s public relations committee.
Jacobs, who led the BlueCross volunteer technical support team, was lauded for his technical expertise as well as his moonlighting duties as Santa Claus at the center’s client Christmas party.
“Although the Children’s Advocacy Center has honored us, it is truly our honor to help such an important cause,” said Hugh Hale, director of technical services for BlueCross. “We will continue our volunteer efforts to support this hard-working staff and the children they help.”
