As of Nov. 30, 2009, the pre-qualification process was suspended for the CoverTN limited benefit plan. You may visit www.covertn.gov for more details on the state’s decision to suspend enrollment due to reaching budget capacity.
To our dedicated CoverTN brokers, we say thank you. You have helped make CoverTN a successful option for Tennesseans seeking the security of a limited benefit plan. As we continue our partnership, please take note:
Your clients currently enrolled in CoverTN will retain their coverage by continuing their premium payments. There is no change in their coverage.
Opportunities still exist with CoverTN.
Members can still be added to the plan. Discuss these options with your clients:
CoverTN limited benefits are designed to provide working Tennesseans and Tennesseans between jobs with low-cost coverage for basic medical service. These plans encourage regular doctors visits and preventive screenings, that help decrease the need for high-cost care in the future. Not to be confused as an inexpensive replacement for traditional PPO coverage, CoverTN simply helps previously uninsured Tennesseans lower the need for potential high-cost care in the future.
It is not an alternative program for employers who become dissatisfied with premium increases. It is not a replacement for comprehensive health insurance. To be eligible for CoverTN, an employee must have had no health coverage within the last six months – even if the employer paid less than 50 percent of that coverage.
