If you need health coverage to bridge the gap between the time one plan ends and another begins, we have short-term coverage options for your needs and budget.
Short-term plans are designed to provide temporary coverage. Keep in mind that these plans are not compliant with the Affordable Care Act and are only intended to provide coverage for a limited time before you enroll in an individual or family plan.
These plans often require prior authorization before you can receive certain services. If you or your doctor do not get prior authorization, your care may not be covered.
To find out more about short-term plans, call us at 1-888-744-9584, e-mail us at IndividualSales_Support@bcbst.com or call your broker for more details.
You may apply for up to four consecutive short-term policies for a maximum total of 12 months of coverage. After that, you must wait six months before applying for additional short-term coverage. Any medical condition that occurs before or during your current short-term policy will be considered a pre-existing condition on any future short-term policy. Your short-term coverage can be extended if you are hospitalized when your coverage expires.
