CoverKids & HealthyTNBabies

CoverKids provides free, comprehensive health coverage for qualifying children age 18 and younger.

The coverage includes an emphasis on preventive health services and coverage for physician services, hospital visits, vaccinations, well-child visits, healthy babies program, developmental screenings, mental health, vision and dental care.

There are low co-pays for medical services, though well child visits and immunizations are covered at 100 percent.

Families with uninsured children may apply online at www.CoverKids.com or by calling 1-866-620-8864.

Qualifications include:

• Age 18 or younger or a pregnant woman who meets eligibility criteria
• Household income up to 250% of federal poverty level (Buy-in is available for children in households with higher incomes)
• U.S. citizen or qualified legal alien (babies born in the U.S. will be considered U.S. citizens)
• Tennessee resident
• Uninsured for at least three months prior to application
• Not eligible for TennCare
• No access to state employee health insurance or other state-sponsored insurance

Refer to the table of qualifying incomes  based on federal poverty guidelines to see if your child qualifies. If you meet the income guidelines, no monthly premiums will be charged, but each participant will pay reduced co-payments for services.

HealthyTNBabies offers coverage for pregnancies and complications of pregnancies to qualified pregnant women. The CoverKids eligibility vendor will determine the date the coverage begins. Coverage ends after 60 days of postpartum care. HealthyTNBabies coverage is available through CoverKids.

Qualifications for HealthyTNBabies include:

• Household income up to 250% of the federal poverty level
• Without health coverage for three months
• Tennessee resident
• Not eligible for TennCare or other state-sponsored insurance

In addition to coverage for the pregnancy and complications of pregnancy, HealthyTNBabies offers a comprehensive pharmacy plan.
