    Health for All Ages: Adults

Healthy adults need a regular checkup every one to three years, depending on your age. Checkups can help your doctor find health problems early, when they are most treatable.

Your doctor may do the following procedures during your regular checkups:
    • Check your height and weight
    • Check your blood pressure
    • Examine your skin every three years for skin cancer
    • Colorectal screening test(s) to check for colon/rectal cancer every year beginning at age 50
    Women only:
    • Perform a Pap test every one to three years to check for cervical cancer
    • Check your breasts for lumps or cancer every year
    • Arrange for a mammogram between the ages of 35-40 to check for breast cancer
    Men only:
    • Do blood test for prostate cancer once a year after age 50 (once a year after age 40 for African-Americans).
