Take a Look at Your New Monthly Claims Statement

If you get paper explanations of benefits (EOBs) mailed from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, they will stop in October, and you’ll receive something even better – a Monthly Claims Statement.  The new statement is easy to understand.  It clearly explains how much is paid, to whom, and for what.  The new statement is also good for the environment.  It will reduce paper waste and save a small forest of trees.

What Does the New Monthly Claims Statement Look Like?

The Monthly Claims Statement recaps BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee medical or dental benefits paid to providers on your behalf in a 28-day period.  Here is a sneak peek at the statement.

Who Gets the Statements?

If you get EOBs by mail now, you’ll be mailed a Monthly Claims Statement instead, starting in October.  You’ll receive a statement only if you have claims paid to providers over the period it covers.  

If you “Go Paperless” on communications, you’ll not receive Monthly Claims Statements.  You can go to the Personal Health Statement (PHS) on BlueAccess to see similar information -- only even more up to date with even more helpful topics.

What Happens to EOBs?

You can still see your EOBs online at, in the BlueAccess secure pages.  Up to 18 months of EOBs are online.  You can view and print an EOB any time you need one.

Catch the Green Spirit!

If you get in the spirit, you can sign up to stop mailings and view everything online.  Log into BlueAccess, click on Go Paperless!, and follow the easy steps from there.
