Open Enrollment Period Time to make updates!
The open enrollment for your CoverTN health plan is October 1 through October 31, 2012. During this time, and only during this time, your employees who have not enrolled in CoverTN may choose to do so.
During this same period, your enrolled employees have the opportunity to:
- Change health plans
- Add a spouse
- Report any changes in health information for themselves or their spouse regarding weight or tobacco use in order to change their premium rates
All changes and coverage will become effective Jan. 1, 2013, when the new benefit year for CoverTN begins.
Protect Yourself and Those Around You
Schedule your flu shot today
While flu season doesn't kick into high gear for another couple of months, it's not too early to start planning for you and your employees' annual flu shot.
The flu is a contagious illness caused by influenza (flu) viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness and even death. Some people are at higher risk for serious flu complications. So, the best way to prevent getting the flu is to get a flu shot every year.
Safety and Quality of Care and Service
The safety, quality of care and service that your employee receives as a CoverTN member is important to you – and to us. That’s why BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) has a Quality Improvement Program (QIP) that is evaluated each year for:
- quality of care and services our members receive
- appropriateness of care our members receive, and
- access to providers
Does Your Enrolled Employee Need Maternity Coverage?
Maternity benefits are not included as a benefit under CoverTN. So, members who become pregnant should take the following steps:
- Contact CoverKids as soon as she knows she is pregnant. CoverKids will determine if she is eligible for TennCare OR HealthyTNBabies during the pregnancy. The CoverKids Customer Service toll-free number is 1-866-620-8864.
Reminder: Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) Notices
As a participating CoverTN employer, you are required to fund both your third and your employee's third of the required premium through the bank draft process. The State pays the final third. You must withhold your employee's third through payroll deduction.
Better Health Can Equal Big Rewards
Quitting tobacco and losing weight can have a positive impact on your employees' health and on their wallets, too. Premium rates are more expensive for members who use tobacco and are overweight than for those who are tobacco-free and not overweight.
