CoverTN Coverage ends December 31, 2013

As the State of Tennessee has notified you in several letters, CoverTN coverage will not be available starting January 1, 2014.

In order for us to close out the program:

  • CoverTN employers can no longer add new hires to the plan.
  • Your employees can no longer add a spouse to coverage.
  • Applications or change requests sent to CoverTN cannot be processed.

Remember, all CoverTN coverage will end December 31, 2013. The only exception is for pregnant CoverTN members enrolled in CoverKids/HealthyTNBabies before January 1, 2014. Pregnancy coverage will continue through 60 days after the end of a member’s pregnancy. But beginning January 1, 2014, all other medical coverage will end.

Why are these changes being made?
CoverTN is a limited benefit plan. It has annual benefit limits and does not cover all types of services required by the new health care law. Therefore, the program cannot continue in 2014.

We are contacting all CoverTN members about these changes, but we need your help in communicating with your employees. Please remind them that the program is ending effective December 31, 2013.

Your employees can get more information about their current coverage by calling CoverTN Member Services at 1-888-887-3224, toll-free, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday; TDD: 1-866-591-2908 (for hearing impaired).
