BlueCross' Gateway building has been certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council, the recognized standard for the classification of environmentally friendly buildings.
Gateway is the second largest LEED Gold certified building in Chattanooga. The renovations include improved air quality, state-of-the-art water control, and more than 160 new trees and other landscaping improvements. We also installed a 198.24 kilowatt solar array on the ceiling of the building, which produces about 40 percent of the building’s power. You can access real-time data on the solar panel's power use at our Solar Array Dashboard.
The improvements to the Gateway building earned BlueCross the 2012 Governor's Environmental Stewardship Award, its second in three years.
