Tennessee Center for Patient Safety

The Tennessee Center for Patient Safety was created by the Tennessee Hospital Association to provide education, resources, and other tools to help accelerate the performance of hospitals across the state on quality and patient safety initiatives.

Started in 2007, the center is saving lives, reducing hospital stays, and saving millions of dollars in health care costs. It does this by helping to reduce hospital-onset infections and other preventable harms. Since the center began, its activities have led to a decrease of 860 hospital-acquired infections or other complications, avoiding an estimated 6,200 patient days and approximately $12.3 million in health care costs.

With a multi-year grant from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation, participating hospitals across the state are united in their commitment to use evidence-based strategies to provide safe, quality care for their patients.
