BlueCross Promotes Lawley to Vice President of Technology Shared Services
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Michael Lawley has been promoted to vice president of technology shared services at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.|
In this role, Lawley will be responsible for all information systems infrastructure at BlueCross, including the command center, network infrastructure, enterprise systems, disaster recovery, IT compliance and security administration.
“Michael’s leadership, clear communication and aggressive management were crucial during our data center migration and will position us to continue delivering the reliable and efficient technology solutions we need to serve our customers,” said Nick Coussoule, senior vice president and chief information officer for BlueCross.
Lawley joined BlueCross as director of infrastructure in 2008, as the company was constructing its new campus and data center. As director, he developed processes and managed the data center migration involving more than 1,000 pieces of data center equipment and 3,500 employees. He has also led efforts to improve process management discipline and compliance capabilities within the organization.
Prior to joining BlueCross, Lawley served as vice president of information technology and security for Emdeon Business Services, formerly WebMD, where he was responsible for 24/7/365 shared service delivery including multiple data centers and a broad range of technologies.
Lawley received his Bachelor of Science degree in technology management from Troy State University. He is a Certified HIPAA security professional and is also certified in Information Technology Infrastructure Library. Lawley also served as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Army for five years.
