Save When You Stay In Network

Networks are a group of doctors, hospitals and other providers who have agreed to provide our members with care at special, negotiated rates.

Seeing providers who are in your network means you save money with lower costs. You can find the name of your network on the lower left corner of your Member ID card.

Things You Need To Know
When you're experiencing an illness or an injury, you often have a choice between different types of care—primary, convenient, urgent or emergency. Understanding these types of care can help you save money and get the most from your health plan.

Primary Care

Think of your primary care physician as a guide to your health. Your primary care physician’s job is to assess your medical history, handle your annual wellness check-up, and treat your current medical conditions. Seeing your primary care physician regularly is important to your overall health and wellbeing.

Convenience vs. Urgent Care

Convenience care is for common health needs like preventive health screenings or treatment for sore throats and ear infections. Search for urgent care if you have a medical issue that requires immediate treatment, but isn’t life threatening, such as minor injuries or slight fevers.

Emergency Care

Emergency care is often located in hospitals and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The staff is trained and equipped to treat traumatic injuries and life threatening illnesses such heart attacks, strokes or compound fractures. Emergency care is often more costly, especially if you receive tests or labs or require care from a specialist during your visit.

We make every effort to ensure the list of providers displayed is up to date and accurate. Before making an appointment, we encourage you to call your provider to verify they are still part of your network and refer to your benefits to determine if the provider type is covered. If you need help, contact our Customer Service team. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee shall not be liable for any losses, damages, or uncovered charges as a result of receiving care from a provider listed in this website.
