Most Americans who don’t have health insurance through an employer are required to buy it or face a federal penalty. Health insurance plans are available to the general public through the Marketplace, sometimes called the Health Insurance Marketplace, the Federally Facilitated Marketplace or the Exchange. Below you’ll find information that may be useful to you as you shop for a Marketplace plan that’s right for you.
The Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) allows small businesses to shop for and purchase health insurance plans for their employees. SHOP is similar to the individual Marketplace, but is only open to small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees. The information below is provided to help employers find the SHOP plan that’s right for them, and their employees.
