Improving the Quality of Care and Services

The safety, quality of care and service you get as a BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee member is important to you – and to us. That is why we have a Quality Improvement Program (QIP) that is evaluated each year for:

• Quality of care and services

• Appropriateness of care

• Access to providers

Our program is recognized by well-known external accrediting bodies such as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). In 2009, we received an "Excellent" rating and full accreditation from NCQA. The NCQA "Excellent" rating was maintained in 2010. We also received full URAC accreditations in Case Management and Consumer Education and Support programs in 2009. In 2011, once again we received full URAC Health plan accreditation.
