Diabetes screening for people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder who are using antipsychotic medications

People with serious mental illness are at increased risk of metabolic syndrome. Periodic screening allows for early identification and treatment of diabetes.

Patient population: People 18–64 years of age who are prescribed antipsychotic medications to treat schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Quality Goal: Ensure these patients are screened for diabetes every year.
