BlueCross is Committed to Ethical Business Practices
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has been an important part of Tennessee families and businesses since 1945. For 65 years, we have built a bond of trust with the people we serve, as well as the vendors and suppliers with whom we do business.
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is committed to a corporate culture of ethics and compliance. In an effort to reinforce that commitment, the Board of Directors has adopted a Code of Business Conduct that applies to all employees, officers, contractors and members of the Board of Directors. We are willing to share our Code of Conduct, including related policies and procedures, with our business partners in order to relay our commitment to a corporate culture of ethics and compliance. The Code of Conduct sets an ethical tone for the organization and provides guidelines for how we and our business partners are expected to conduct business.
Key Provisions of the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Code of Conduct:
- Dealing with Customers, Suppliers, and Third Parties – We base business decisions on the merit of business factors involved, not favors. Any gift or gratuity must be reasonable, consistent with business practices, and related to a legitimate purpose. Cash gifts should never be offered or accepted.
- Conflicts of Interest – We avoid activities that conflict or are otherwise incompatible with our responsibilities as BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee representatives. Any actual or potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed.
- Confidential Information – We protect confidential information by taking reasonable steps to ensure that persons without a legitimate need for the information cannot discover it.
- Legal Compliance – We conduct business activities in an honest, open and fair manner, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
